CampusTV Pilot Project
DMIT is partnering with Cisco Systems and Video Furnace to test and evaluate CampusTV, a software-controlled solution for converging live video to the desktop and other IP devices without requiring installed client side players. Video Furnace encoders and servers handle the tasks of capturing and encoding live video to standards based MPEG streams with quality from VHS to full D1 broadcast. Video is broadcast as either unicast or multicast feeds, enabling IT to evaluate the product as a potential solution for both on-campus and distance learning applications.
The pilot project has ended. We are currently soliciting funding to establish a permanent hardware solution for implementing multicast streaming technology in support of education and research activities here at ASU. We are interested in soliciting your feedback on this technology. Would your department or college be interested in using it to accomplish some of your strategic goals? Please submit your comments, observations and concerns using our CampusTV Pilot blog. Note: this blog is open to ASU employees only. You will need to login using your ASURITEID. Technical questions should be submitted to campustvpilot-q@asu.edu .
