Eruditio Project
The Eruditio Project. The project is a collaborative effort between the Arizona Department of Education, Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, Grand Canyon University, and Arizona Education Association. This project provides professional development and a laptop computer for 430 of Arizona's educators over the next two years.

The Eruditio Project began in the summer of 1997, with two hundred K-12 educators and will continue through summer 1998 with 230 additional educators joining the project. Educators in Phase II will participate in a four-day summer workshop and in at least one workshop during the academic year. In these sessions educators learn basic computing skills, how to access information and navigate networks, how to integrate communications technology with curricular goals and objectives, and how to expand communications for ongoing professional development. Conexiones Project
In an effort to promote lifelong learning among traditionally underserved minority students, Conexiones has provided educational opportunities for students of migrant workers since 1992. Conexiones students engage in learning activities on the Arizona State University campus throughout the year in order to familiarize them with higher education and technology. Students engage in constructivist and project-base learning activities that promote bilingual language literacy as well as proficiency in technology use. Through the Conexiones program, students establish a network of university faculty, staff, students, and mentors who are either familiar or have personal experience with the challenges that linguistic, cultural, and economic differences pose for education. So that students are encouraged to continue their learning in the home, the studentsÕ family and community members are also encouraged to participate in the program. [ more ]

vBNS Advanced Networking and Applications Research
This project establishes a research network whose design is driven by applications requiring highspeed/high bandwidth connectivity. Through collaboration and cooperation with Arizona's initial vBNS site at the University of Arizona, this project will extend vBNS participation among Arizona's Research One Institutions. This proposal is driven by the research community's need for a communications infrastructure which supports and enables the use of highspeed/ highbandwidth applications and provides the Quality of Service guarantees attainable via the vBNS.  Each member of this multidisciplinary consortium has demonstrated the need for vBNS participation as well as a proven track record of scholarly and innovative research in their respective fields.  Arizona State University has demonstrated the technical expertise and administrative commitment necessary to guarantee implementation of the network infrastructure necessary for project success.
