vBNS Advanced Networking and Applications Research
The proposed project will establish a research network whose design is driven by applications requiring highspeed/high bandwidth connectivity. Through collaboration and cooperation with Arizona's initial vBNS site at the University of Arizona, this project will extend vBNS participation among Arizona's Research One Institutions. This proposal is driven by the research community's need for a communications infrastructure which supports and enables the use of highspeed/ highbandwidth applications and provides the Quality of Service guarantees attainable via the vBNS.  Each member of this multidisciplinary consortium has demonstrated the need for vBNS participation as well as a proven track record of scholarly and innovative research in their respective fields.  Arizona State University has demonstrated the technical expertise and administrative commitment necessary to guarantee implementation of the network infrastructure necessary for project success.
